Theoretical Approaches to Science Communication – in the Frame of Communication Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, Social Representation and Knowledge Philosophy

The existence and legitimacy of science communication needs to be supported by arguments of philosophy and the sociology of science. But the approaches of scientific realism and social constructivism are very different with relation to the position and opportunities of science communication. For example, Moscovici’s social psychological theory of social representation offers a useful frame for the interpretation of the social function of science.
